I'm with Jim. I, too, am not aware of any IBM plans to drop bisync in the near future. Not to say they don't exist but I have not heard that rumor or read anything about it. SNA is another story. Here are a couple of related links I have that still work, although my IBM links now yield 404: http://www.mcpressonline.com/mc/.6b24cce2 http://www.itjungle.com/tfh/tfh050905-story01.html Have a good weekend, everybody. -Marty ------------------------------ date: Fri, 10 Feb 2006 14:14:43 -0600 from: Jim Oberholtzer <JOberholtzer@xxxxxxxxxxxx> subject: RE: Bisync support - V5R3 and beyond <snip> I heard a rumor that bisync support is going away in the near future (V5R4?). Has anyone else heard this? </snip> In going over the announcement notes for V5R4, I have not found any official statements from IBM regarding the end of support on bisync. V5R4 should still support it, although I cannot verify it since I have no one to try it with. Since the next Version/Release should be about 24 months out, you should be good for a bit yet. A better questions is, why bisync? Most of the banks and governments that use bisync have moved to another really old transport called TCP.... ;-) Jim
