Subject: Converting RPG to Java
Could IBM intercept the w-code output of the ILE compilers and convert
it to
some form of Java? I'm sure this wouldn't be a cakewalk but it would be
better than the current solution (i.e., nothing). It seems that
WebFacing does only half the job; offering an RPG-to-Java utility would
give IBM's Java/WebSphere effort a substantial boost.
IBM's Roadmap represents the first time in more than 25 years where
IBM's
"new direction" for the midrange product line is essentially unsupported
by
even a primitive IBM conversion tool.
