Rob, come on, don't you think I did try it.

>*SYS naming convention would work.

Sys does indeed work. I had tried it, but I'd also specified the default
collection parameter, assuming that it would use that library as the
library to create the objects in. However, if you specify the default
collection it overrides the naming parameter and uses *SYS no matter
what. Once you said it does work I went back and tried to figure out why
mine wasn't working.

My first question was going to be "How the (heck) hard would that have
been to test and find out for yourself?" Then some obscure thought came
to mind.

-- it depends --

*SQL naming convention would not work, unless the referenced object is
in your CURRENT library.
*SYS naming convention would work.

Subject
References Clause on create table and library list

All,

Is it possible to use the references clause on a create table and have
the library list searched for the table that is referenced? For example,
in:

create table ServicePhone (
   Service char(6),
   Phone char(13),
   Primary key (Service),
Foreign Key (Service) REFERENCES Rsvphy01 (B4BYCD)
   )

I'm creating the ServicePhone table in CISLIB, but I want it to find
rsvphy01 in HISDEVGEN. I don't want to hard-code the library names since
this is the development side of the world. As it happens, in production
both ServicePhone and rsvphy01 would be in the same library.
