Greetings! I hope you are all enjoying the holidays, and family and friends.We upgraded to a rack mounted 520 in November, and I have a 1U size rack mount HMC that I have to be in the same room with. The rest of the rack is fairly quiet, but the HMC is VERY LOUD! 6 small fans are running at a high speed and causing a lot of noise. I have talked with IBM about the noise, but they can't do anything at this time. It is operating as designed.
Question 1;Can I keep the HMC off unless I need it? Will it cause problems with the iSeries? What issues will this cause?
Question 2;Does anyone have the bigger (2U HMC) and is it fairly quiet in your environment? I may propose a change
Question 3; Has anyone found a way to deal with the noise of the HMC? I'm going deaf with this racket, and would like to find a solution.
