>Where is the failure point that prevents an iSeries from doing the same? Technically speaking there isn't one. COM (or more technically, DCOM -- Distributed COM) defines an over-the-wire protocol for invoking COM objects on remote machines. However, COM is a very deep and wide tree, one object relies on another, which is built on 3 others, each of which need 7 others, etc. And I'm not aware of anyone even trying to implement DCOM on another platform, let alone iSeries. And the stuff I saw about the Java-COM bridge made it clear they were doing JNI calls to COM, not implementing DCOM on non-COM enabled machines. So, in summary, academically speaking, it's possible, but you'd have to write TONS of code, in reality, it's not possible. -Walden ------------ Walden H Leverich III Tech Software (516) 627-3800 x3051 WaldenL@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.TechSoftInc.com Quiquid latine dictum sit altum viditur.
