Hi All, In the New Year we might be purchasing a new 500E-series machine with 1000CPW. Our current machine (720-240/35) currently houses both our production and development services. We keep our production data in a specific directory (Source, Objects and Data), and we keep our development data in another directory (again, source, objects and data). We have run into some occasions where a program or an LF will be compiled into the live system from the development side. Of course, it usually wreaks all kinds of havoc until the rogue file is located and recompiled. With our new system, I'm thinking of dividing up the production and development areas via an LPAR. Can someone discuss their experiences to me on how it has affected your environment? I'd like to hear about how people have found it works. Also, does it affect h/w and s/w licensing costs if you have your machine LPARed? Finally, if and when we do get a new box, we'll need to migrate the data and programs from our old AS/400 to the new box. Can you LPAR a machine and migrate the information over without causing too much havoc? Thanks for your responses! Brian. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Brian Piotrowski Specialist - I.T.
