Dave, external storage (whether IBM's or EMC's) is not likely to help reduce the reorg windows. It may help with the backups by utilizing STORAGE BASED point in time copy technology, but this is done via getting 2x the disk units and a 2nd partition or CPU that can only read the copies. Faster tape won't necessarily help reduce your backup window, unless you know that you've got a tape bottleneck today. More physical disk units (if you've got less than 30 or so) may be your best option to help with both reducing backup window and making the reorgs faster. Changing from RAID5 protection to mirrored protection may also help.
