Rob, According to the help it does, but it also mentions "for IBM messages." A simple test confirms that a user defined message doesn't seem to have the same power. CRTMSGF QTEMP/MSGF MRGMSGF FROMMSGF(QCPFMSG) + TOMSGF(QTEMP/MSGF) + SELECT(CPF9898) CHGMSGD MSGID(CPF9898) + MSGF(QTEMP/TEST) + LOGPRB(*YES) SNDPGMMSG MSGID(CPF9898) MSGF(QTEMP/TEST) + MSGDTA('Testing the WRKPRB function') + TOMSGQ(*SYSOPR) MSGTYPE(*DIAG) This generated the msg in QSYSOPR, but does not show the '*' to the left of the msg. Any other ideas on how to force this type of msg?
