port 500 test thru firewall

Our firewall is managed by isp and is a major pain just to find out if a port 
is open. 
Svc Agt is giving me some errors when I try & run sndptford via 
ethernet/internet and 
2nd level text says (among other things) to be sure port 500 udp is open.
Is there an easy test i can do from iSeries or pc lan to verify the firewall 
allowing 
this port? Test much originate from within the network, not outside.
