Hi all,

I searched the archives and tried a google search but came up empty.

The FTP client I use (Seagull) allows me to FTP to the QSYS.LIB file system, but I need to FTP a JPEG to the IFS. The FTP client that comes with Win2k detects an iSeries connection and does not recognize the namefmt command.

Anyone know of a FTP client that knows the iSeries AND namefmt?

If it matters, the host is V4R5.

I'm trying a proof of concept project. I'm open to suggestions, but here goes:

The goal is to allow the user to display web pages without running a web server.

I was working on a project to display the BOM for a mfg. company in a web page. I wrote the HTML on my local PC and can click on the file and the web browser opens and shows the data. This works fine since the pages are on my local PC.

Then I had the bright idea to place the files in a shared directory in the IFS and the users should be able to click on the primary HTML file and see the BOM. No web server to administer!

I performed the FTP of the HTML to the IFS by first putting them in a QSYS.LIB file then used CPYTOSTMF to place them in the IFS. Now I want to put the company logo there. I've failed trying to FTP it to a file in the QSYS.LIB system. If it matters, the file is 12k.

The files are BOM.html which is a frameset definition. The frames are a horizontal ban on top with the headings and company logo. A vertical frame on the left side with a clickable table of contents, and the remainder is the body where the BOM is displayed. Sort of what you see in a PDF. The actual BOM is contained in a separate HTML file for each product. When the BOM is edited on the iSeries and when the user exits the individual product the program writes out the HTML to the IFS.

This shifts the workload from display time which happens often, to the edit time which happens less frequently.

At least that's the path I'm heading down. If you've been there and got nowhere please let me know! :)

TIA,
J. Kilgore
