Dee, Alternatively you can create a new start-up program with the minimum things to start up, or exclude the start-up of Interactive, TCP/IP, Host servers and Qserver/Qsyswrk. Change sysval QSTRUPPGM just before doing the Save 21. The start up of QCTL calls the startup program, so thosewill not start. Compile it to a new name, leaving the current one intact. That way, should you experience any problem you will be able to IPL and change the system value to the current one. Just a back-door!
Just a thought, Jan. Dee Westerfield wrote:
I'm going to be upgrading my system this weekend so a very good backup is very important. I would like to do a "go save 21" (Save entire system). The wrinkle is, I need to leave the system in a restricted state when this finishes. Would the best way of doing this be to change QMNSRBND to not do a STRSBS QCTL? Is there another way? If I modify QMNSRBND would I need to rename the program in QSYS and move the modified program to QSYS temporarily? Any other ideas? Thanks for any help.
