PTF's and "first touch"

Often times after a release or version upgrade there is a "first touch" 
issue.  Where conversions much like STROBJCVN are done against existing 
objects.  Sometimes it is even noted in a Memo to Users or some such thing 
to do something that does a "first touch" so that users themselves don't 
notice it.

Is it possible that a similar instance happens upon the application of 
PTF's?

This is why I ask.  After the last couple of downtimes our first save of 
user objects after an IPL after ptf application, runs much longer.  The 
next night, it's back down to normal.

Now, the save occurs as much as a day to a day and a half after the IPL 
has completed so I don't think that it is because of processes all just 
starting.
