1 - Have a UPS that is i5 friendly.
2 - Have a "power warning interface" cable that goes from the UPS to your 
i5.
3 - WRKSYSVAL QUPSMSGQ
4 - Buy some software such as Byteware's Messenger Plus to monitor this 
message queue and set it up to alert you.
