Larry,It looks like the compiler is trying to tell you that the index into the array [LEFT is an array, right?] is invalid. Rather, wouldn't it be: EVAL IPT2 = LEFT(LN)
I mean, you can't subscript an array with an alpha field, just 'numberic' fields.
If LEFT is a subprocedure, wouldn't the comma be a colon?

IPT1 and IPT2 are 15 character alpha fields. LN is a 2.0 numberic field.
The errors are from the compiler.
EVAL IPT2 = LEFT(IPT1,LN)

Yes that's a comma above the 'a'.
