Actually, yes. I am an adjunct instructor at a local community college, and our 170 box is named 'HAL'. But, that is just an instructional box. Of course where I work days, they went with 'SSS' which was based on the original name of the company that I work for. BTW, related to the EDUCATION topic, the community college offers 3 or 4 courses on the AS/400. One is an intro course teaching the operating system. One course is RPG and there is 1 or 2 on COBOL. School is located in SW Michigan. The RPG course is not on the calendar for January today, but there is talk of it being added. Re: system names Most shops I've seen have been fairly unimaginative, usually the 'S' followed by the serial number. Here, we use EAGLE. We've got some "lesser" birds for our PC servers. Wonder if anyone's got one out there named HAL? - Dan
