Brian,

There's a Last Used Date on the object header. DSPOBJD to an outfile
will give you what you're asking for -- but not necessarily what you
want!

First caution for people looking to delete things based on last access:
remember some things are called rarely -- really rarely. Think of
month-end and year-end processing. Also, consider that in these cases
there may be cases where a given program is only used in certain years
depending on business rules.

Second caution: when looking at files don't forget that SQL's use of an
index or the statistics "owned" by an index don't update the last used
date.

Third caution: Make sure that "usage collection" is enabled on the
object before looking at last used date.

Fourth caution: Stats can be reset -- make sure you collect for a long
enough time period.

Subject: Determining Program "Last Access Date"

Hi All,

We have (I'm sure of it!) many internally-written programs that have
been rewritten and are currently in use. However, the programmers
failed to remove the old program code and objects out of our AS/400,
resulting in many duplicated programs that may or may not be in use. I
have been tasked to figure out what objects are currently in use and
what objects can be removed.

Is there an easy way to determine when a program was last run and
whether or not is it currently in use? I'd really like to be able to
say "show me all programs that have not been accessed in 2005" or
something to that effect.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Brian.
