I think the confusion is the difference between SMTP server and client. The SMTP server is for receiving email. The client is used for sending email. And I "guess" that perhaps QMSF does the actual sending. And I think it would take pretty good timing with the NETSTAT command to catch activity. For example, (and I am no expert) on my PC if I type in telnet 216.82.241.3 25 and then run a NETSTAT on another session, I see TCP rob:2711 mail132.messagelabs.com:smtp ESTABLISHED Rob Berendt
