Most of the hotels are chains, are they not? Won't these chains be
scrambling to keep the business and offering changed venues and alternatives
to their customers? I would bet that they will be making some overtures to
scheduled events before the end of the week.

Something about the pursuit of the American Dollar... these companies will
come up with some great alternatives, and the process will reasonably smooth
and affordable. How about a convention move to.. say... Rio or Bermuda, at
the same cost for rooms and transportation?

Hi,

Here's my take on NOLA.

First of all the Convention Center and the Hotel(s) need to be 100%
functional, safe an clean. I am not anxious to go there, and get sick or
something. (This does not mean that 100% of the Convention Center needs to
be this way, but it does mean that our part of the center needs to be this
way.)

Next, there needs to be an airport. I'm not interested in flying to a
second tier airport (to do such means that I would have to change planes),
and then driving for a dog's age. This would also imply that I couldn't
get out on Thursday night, requiring a loss of another day's productivity
and a night's hotel stay.

Moreover, if the French Quarter's not back, I'm unsure why I would want to
go to that city. In the event that it's not back, the hotel would have to
provide much evening dining and entertainment variety, not typical of firms
called Hilton.

My fear is that the Convention Center will say to COMMON that you have a
contract, honor it, and the remainder of the infrastructure will not be
there to support us.

Look at the satellite photo. You can find the Hilton hotel if you've ever
been in NO. There is a VERY narrow strip of land that is not under water.
Jackson Square might be dry, but most of the rest of the Quarter is wet.

It would appear that Jackson square and surrounding areas had very minimal

damage, according to video this afternoon. The park on the levy by CDM is

green and dry...looks like CDM will be serving coffee and benet's again...
