Anybody know if there is a maximum size to an IFS text file?

The sizes are per filesystem. Keep in mind the term "IFS" encompasses all disk access from the iSeries, including the standard library/objects, access to Windows servers, access to Unix servers, etc. The maximums will vary depending on which filesystem you've accessed, and in some cases the maximums aren't under the control of the iSeries.

Here's a link to the Information Center where it compares the maximums of all of the different filesystems:

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v5r3/ic2924/html_nav/info/ifs/rzaaxfscmp.htm

Another thing to keep in mind is that it may depend on how the software is written. If I write an HLL program that uses the open() API (and related IFS APIs) to write a stream file, I have the option of specifying the O_LARGEFILE flag that allows me to write files larger than 2gb. If I forget to specify it, I may end up with a 2gb maximum even though the filesystem supports larger files.
