If they don't want to swing for performance tools, the Management Central 
part of iSeries Navigator is quite good.  My boss uses it all the time. We 
too are a BPCS405CD shop (but that is only a tiny fraction of our disk 
usage).

For disk management you really ought to run the RTVDSKINF / PRTDSKINF *SYS 
combo.

IBM is aware of issues with sessions dropping causing performance issues. 
They are also aware of limitations on the number of 5250 sessions per 
QINTER type subsystem.  I'm looking forward to a resolution.

(hopefully your antispam software doesn't block the term "performance 
issues"   ;-)
