I had 2 customers in Katrina's South Florida visit, barely a Cat-1, and both within the eye-path of the storm. (i swear this is true.... I had to "emphatically" tell the staff who had been left to process month end on the eve of the 25th as the winds were really picking up - GO HOME! They were afraid to make that decision on their own. I finally said I would take the heat if any problem with management. Their power failed shortly after and UPS ran 2 hours and dropped. Out 30 hours. This company has a building generator "on order" (after a truck driver fell asleep & took out the whole block's power pole a few months ago. Down 2 weekdays for that. Plus hurricane scares every year. Company finally realized many of their web orders come from out of the area and they expect the site up. Other co stayed up with a building generator which also covers their refrigerated inventory. Their web & vpn went down for 2 days as Bellsouth had problems on their end. Good luck in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. jim franz ----- Original Message ----- From: "Don" <dr2@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, August 28, 2005 3:54 PM Subject: katrina disaster recovery prep? > > Well, you folks in Katrina's path ready for this one?
