We did have one recent horror story trying to get our latest one up and running - lots of finger-pointing between IBM and Powerware over who was supposed to provide service, since we bought the unit from IBM. But once working, it has been fine. If you go to powerware.com and into their UPS Product Selector application, under Servers, it knows about various iSeries models. http://www.powerware.com/UPS/Selector/BuildByDevice.asp You need to have the correct cable (and sometimes special interface card) to connect the UPS to your iSeries. iSeries doesn't use the same pinouts as other machines serial connections. Once you have the correct cable you will also need some software on the iSeries side, to read the UPS messages and determine when it is necessary to shutdown and to perform the shutdown. You can write this yourself and I think a few vendors offer their own products. -Marty
