One thing to note that if you have an index on the timestamp field, then with both of Brigitta methods the index will _NOT_ be used. If you have an index on the field, use Peter's method. If you don't have an index, then it doesn't matter much but Peter's is still less work as no conversions are required. No offense intended Brigitta, for small data sets I'll often use methods like yours that convert the fields I'm searching on.
