EXACTLY what we do. I usually find that Alex is saturated after 3-4 days and since we're talking trips during the school year, I'm not comfortable taking her out of school more than 2 or so days.

Your kids will get a better education by traveling with you than spending

Dad frequently. I'd do schoolwork when he was in meetings, or riding in the
airplane.

But, what I usually do is take a long weekend before the conf..hiting town
on Thurs pm...do the weekend with them...they may do some stuff on
Mon/Tues and then they fly back on tues pm....I'm there the whole week.

Oh well....

That would pretty much limit both down to just during the summer and thus

school be year round as a cheap source of babysitting.)
And vacations are scattered all over heck during the summer thus putting
a
crimp in the schedule.
I can see where, for single parents it would be a hassle, but what are
you
going to do if the conference is during the summer anyway? Have your
preschooler sit next to you during "MI Fundamentals"?

I love my family, and I like traveling with them. But sometimes it's best
if they stay home when I'm at a conference. I feel less guilty about
going to BOF's, etc if they are not there.

I just wish COMMON/IBM/et al would quit having the damn things during the
school year. I really don't like the idea of taking my kid outta school
to come with me for a few days when I goto a conf...like I'm gonna do
when

I hit COMMON/pSeriesTech in Sept.
