No it's not possible.  And I've given up on a DCR ever getting IBM to 
change.  I put requests in there for this capability since V1R2.

You're not going to be create an index over the view.

Your best bet is to give up trying to do this via 'traditional I/O' in 
languages such as RPG or COBOL.  And use imbedded SQL.  The first time you 
run it, do a STRDBG PGM(*NONE) UPDPROD(*YES).  SQL will suggest any 
indexes that will make it run faster.
