DDS JOIN...

Is it possible using the join in the dds, to create key fields from the
'joined to file?'

A                                      JDFTVAL                 
A          R PMRREQF                   JFILE(PMPREQND PMPREQNF)
A          J                           JOIN(1 2)               
A                                      JFLD(RQDID  RFDID)      
                                                               
A            RQDID         10          TEXT('DEPT ABR')        
A            RQNAME        40          TEXT('DEPT NAME')       
A            RQLINE1       55          TEXT('EXTRA LINE')      

If I use this...

I can create key fields from the pmpreqnd table, but I can create any key
fields from the pmpreqnf..

Is this correct?  

Or Should I use SQl to create a view of my join, then create an index...
