Has anyone ever used the MOUNT command to extend there IFS

Yes.

What I wanted to do was use Domino directory links to move archives off
the 400 and on to a new Linux PC server. IBM support says this is not
supported on an iSeries. They suggested to mount the Linux folder
specifying a file system type of UDFS.

I would use NFS instead. On the linux box, put the directory you want to export into /etc/exports (see the man page for exports for more info on that). Then on the iSeries use the mount command to mount a remote NFS file system. Specify the remote host and directory and mount point and you're done!
