Hi Kirk,

My suggestions if I was facing this challenge:

1. Since the customer already owns iSeries Access, I
would suggest creating PC5250 printer sessions that
converted the data from EBCDIC to ASCII at the PC
without using Host Print Transform. This idea only
works when all spool files to be printed are *SCS
format though. Under this scenario, the conversion
uses the Windows print driver for the target printer,
which usually results in better margin control.

2. If there was a need for both AFP & SCS spool file
conversion, then you must use host print transform.
You don't want the no print border to be larger so you
should consult document #86256C2007D0DCE for
assistance. As you mention, it is unclear whether a
PCL 3 based DeskJet will honor the command to offset
the page registration upwards or not (most likely you
will need to perform a test to find out).

3. If point #2 doesn't work, try inserting the PCL
sequence to start printing at row zero into the WSCST
Initialize Printer Sequence instead.

HTH

Best Regards,

/Paul
