RE: SQL scroll cursor slow performance

No.  The default is a valid value for this data type which is to be used
when the value is not specified.  Null is different, since it is not a
valid value for use in things like calculations or comparisons.  A
default value would need to be a numeric value for a numeric field, or a
valid date for a date field.  The USE_DEFAULT_FOR_NULL flag would tell
the SQL engine to substitute the default value whenever it encountered a
null field.
