But you can't write an iSeries applciation using .NET. You can write a client application that access a data store on an iSeries, or executes business logic on an iSeries, but iSeries applications have to be written in an iSeries supported language. AFAIK, C Flat is not an iSeries supported language...nor is VB6 or VB.NET or whatever. Java can be used for client side and server side on an iSeries; .NET can only be used for client side. > -------- Original Message -------- > Subject: Re: Java vs .NET was: RPGIII compiler vs Visual Basic > From: Steve Richter <stephenrichter@xxxxxxxxx> > Date: Mon, June 20, 2005 11:36 am > To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> > > On 6/20/05, Joe Pluta <joepluta@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > > > > > > So, why is > > > there a SINGLE "official" way to go to the web in the windows world > > > (ASP.NET) while there are so many in the iSeries world (JSP, > > WebFacing, > > > iSeries Access for Web, HATS, CGI, CGIDEV2, screen-scrapers, etc.) > > > > There is a single, official way to get to the web on the iSeries: JSP on > > WebSphere. > > > > Where are the advocates for JSP and WebSphere?
