Kirk,

I don't know either answer, but you would want to encrypt it in hardware
off of the CPU.  Doing it on the system would be very CPU intensive.

I have a client, a financial institution, that has asked me can they
encrypt data saved to tape. So a couple of questions

#1 Is there a product on the market that would encrypt data as it is being
saved via SAVLIB etc?
#2 Is there a product on the market that would encrypt data on the system
prior to being saved to tape?
