A change to this system value takes effect the next time a password is
changed.  The shipped value is 8.                                     
QPWDEXPITV
A change to this system value takes effect immediately.  The shipped 
value is *NOMAX.                                                     

So - be careful on the last one, especially if you have profiles which
are used for app-to-app communication which have their particular parm
in the *USRPRF set to *SYSVAL for PWDEXPITV.  Be a good idea to audit
them prior to making that change.

If I change the system value for the min/max length of passwords, when
does
it take effect?   What I am asking is what does it do to the person
whose
password is too short?  Will it wait until password expiration to
enforce the rule or will it be enforced on the next sign on attempt?

Same question for expiration.   Some will change from *nomax to 90 days.
When does that kick in?
