Hi Tony -

I'm in the process of system testing and implementation of a little "time
clock" type subsystem on the AS400 and as part of this, I created a simple
userid and password for signing on a workstation in the warehouse(s). I
plan to just put this userid and password on a sticky on the workstation.
This profile is only allowed a little 3 option menu and has no rights to
anything else, so I think it's "safe".

A couple of thoughts:

1. Have an autostart job in the subsystem which acquires the workstation, then the workstation doesn't have to be signed on.

2. It is possible to create a sign-on display file which has the user-id and password hard-coded, protected, and non-display so that all the user has to do is press Enter. You have to be creative to do this and still keep the record format correct, but I did many years ago and it is possible.
