RE: QADBIFLD Question

I originally looked at QSYS2/SYSCOLUMNS but couldn't find the field.
Perhaps I've missed something? None of the field text values seem to
refer to the same field as in QDSPFFD. The fields in the record format
of QADBIFLD that I need are:

 WHRFIL             QADSPFFD           Reference file          
 WHRLIB             QADSPFFD           Reference library       
 WHRFMT             QADSPFFD           Reference record format 
 WHRFLD             QADSPFFD           Reference field        

I can't see any of these in SYSCOLUMNS. None of the fields in SYSCOLUMNS
seem to have these field texts.

I tried building my own view over the physical but ran into the same
authority problems.

Do you have access to SYSCOLUMNS?  It's in QSYS2 but that should be in 
your library list.  It's a logical built over the physical.  There are 
ways to lock a person out of the physical but let them access it via the

logical.

If you are able to see the structure, then that should be all you need. 
You aren't trying to open it with a utility that needs update access are

you?  I think that is your problem.
