Both 5250 and WSG have exactly the same environment variables

  _WX_GEN_NAMES
 ICU_DATA

Bummer. WSG obviously is not programmed to behave like regular webserver software. Fortunately it sounds like there are some other suggestions offered that will work for you.

There is no REMOTE_ADDR. But both 5250 (client access) and WSG use the
same IP.

It doesn't matter that 5250 and browser access would be using the same IP address. A regular 5250 session would never have the REMOTE_ADDR environment variable unless someone ran the ADDENVVAR command or an equivalent API. If you switch from WSG to some other software, you may find some environment variables being created that may be of some use to you. Just something to keep in the back of your mind for the future.
