I don't believe what you want is possible.

AFAIK, Client Access doesn't support *IPDS printers at all.  Printers attached 
to PCs are by definition ASCII printers.  You'll not using the *IPDS chip 
inside the printer at all.  

The reason *AFPDS printing works is that Host Print Transform (HPT) can convert 
*AFPDS to ASCII to print to an ASCII printer.

Take a look at the DEVD on the iSeries.  If you don't have TYPE(*IPDS), then 
the iSeries doesn't see the printer as *IPDS.

What type of printer are we talking about?  How is it connected to the PC?

It would seem to me that you should be able to connect the printer directly to 
the network and skip going through client access at all.
