We installed an Ultrium 3 in January. We're currently on our 3rd drive. Those things drop like flies. Good thing I didn't get rid of the Ultrium 2 drive. While I'm ranting. What's with the removal of the LCD display? We seem to have taken a step backwards with the Ultrium 3. Specifically, V5R2 using the drive as a tape drive (as opposed to a media library) without media management software (BRMS, Tivoli, etc.). We (and 2 or 3 other companies that I know of) are having problems with the drive "dropping ready" in the middle of a backup.
