Hello,

Is there a way in V5R2 to unzip files with a .GZ extension?

IBM has ported many of the GNU utilities, including gunzip, to the iSeries. You can download them for free from IBM. Take a look at the following link:

http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/enable/site/porting/iseries/overview/gnu_utilities.html

It might be worth knowing that GNU Zip ("gzip") and GNU Unzip ("gunzip") are compression only. They're not archive software packages. Usually an archive is created with the Unix TAR utility, and the result gzipped to make it smaller. The extension then looks like ".tar.gz" or ".tgz".

Both QShell and PASE come with TAR utilities.
