RE: screen field not changing, but debug value is changed.

Ahhh, you're using ERRMSG or ERRMSGID then?  If so, you are correct that
output fields don't show changes if one of these keywords is active.  That's
one of the reasons to use a message subfile instead.

controller won't allow the screen's fields to change?
