Materialized query tables (MQTs) Analysis of large amounts of data driven by complex query processes often involves complex joining and aggregation of data. Often, such as in data warehouse applications, these complex queries are run frequently against similar data elements in DB2 UDB for iSeries. MQTs offer DB2-aware aggregates of data designed to reduce the intensive processes required to respond to repetitive complex queries. The query rewrite function of DB2 UDB for iSeries redirects the query to use the aggregated data precomputed and stored in the MQT, greatly reducing the processing time.
