Mike, I once worked in a shop that used a fingerprint reader to gain access to the computer room. My manager would use her fingerprint to get the reader to set up a new user. It would train itself to recognize your fingerprint with a couple of tries with your index finger. Required occasional cleaning of the dirty small scanner window but otherwise it worked pretty well.
