Isn't this an oxymoron?  NOBODY switches to Oracle for cost savings.

From my experience, costs will only INCREASE if you move to an Oracle
platform, particularly since you'll soon need a six-figure DBA and other types of infrastructure support that wasn't necessary on the iSeries. My client is currently in the middle of a conversion from JDE to Oracle 11i, and I can tell you first-hand that this is quite true.

And, to boot, TWICE in the last month our PRODUCTION Oracle instance has been taken down for a FULL DAY because of Oracle patches that were applied to the system (that's TWO entire days of lost production for a multinational company).

We're still recovering from the one that happened last week!
