Isn't this an oxymoron? NOBODY switches to Oracle for cost savings.
From my experience, costs will only INCREASE if you move to an Oracleplatform, particularly since you'll soon need a six-figure DBA and other types of infrastructure support that wasn't necessary on the iSeries. My client is currently in the middle of a conversion from JDE to Oracle 11i, and I can tell you first-hand that this is quite true.
We're still recovering from the one that happened last week!
