If this is the "virtual 36, I think it is from the reference of M36, you need to find its corrosponding confgiuration object. I think on the AS400 side it will have the attribute of *m36cfg, usually kept were the m36 object is, you hope. There was a command chgm36cfg or wrkm36cfg, that were you will add the AS400 device ID so when the machine starts, it will allocate it to the virtual 36. It's been a while and hopefully they named it as m36cfg. I did this alot, there was a red book on it. If you need more I'll "dig" it out and find out for you, I dont have a 4.5 box or less around.
