That sounds like it would make another clever ad for the IBM folks. Instead of the geek in the boardroom making the execs laugh, the student in the class room could make the teacher look antiquated by pointing out that the Iseries does all that stuff already .... -----Original Message----- date: Mon, 14 Mar 2005 08:57:16 -0600 from: Carey Jeff - jcarey <Jeff.Carey@xxxxxxxxxx> subject: RE: iSeries Radio Ad I think the issue is not that schools don't teach iSeries per se, but the very concepts that make i5/OS are not taught. Single level storage is never mentioned in IT classes, and in database classes it is taught that DBA's must spend a great deal of time doing things that are automatic on iSeries. It would be great if we could at least become a footnote. -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of rob@xxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, March 14, 2005 7:01 AM To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Subject: Re: iSeries Radio Ad I'm not so sure about the school thing. I've yet to meet a business that had a Univac 1100/80 that I attempted to learn fortran on at Michigan Tech years ago. And I think a lot of businesses can differentiate between a computer used as a learning aid, and one used for running their business.
