Although I agree do a certain degree, would not the statement "you don't
buy something you don't know about as readily as something you do know
about..." preclude anything "new" being invented/designed/developed.
What about generations who bought Ford/Chevy/Dodge who now buy
Toyota/Honda/Nissan?

It boils down to having a well-informed consumer -- whether that
consumer is you and me looking for a new car or a CIO/CFO/COO/CEO
looking for a better way to leverage IT.

Advertising is a definite start. And advertising to the CxO is a far,
far better approach than advertising to the IT community.

Nah, this is just a thaw. It won't last or have even intermediate term
impact unless and until the schools start cranking out people that have
a clue, understand and appreciate the value of OS/400.

We've had almost a full generation of IT Mgmt come through the school
systems being pumped full of unix and windows...that's all they know and
that's all they wanna use.... Face it, you don't buy something you
don't know about as readily as something you do know about...

Safe trip to COMMON, Al, et al...hope you keep warm....drop by the LUG
booth and pickup a pin....
