I would not try scripting FTP like this - it's too unwieldy to parse
out the log file.  I use Scott Klement's FTPAPI.  With that, you can
test for success/failure right in your code without having to worry
about reading/parsing a log file.  http://www.scottklement.com/ftpapi/
