*DIRSRV is LDAP. There is a database that contains what you want to be
served by LDAP. You need to set that up before it can serve it. If you
have to ask what LDAP is, then you do not need to start *DIRSRV at this
time. Not that you shouldn't learn, but starting the service is evidently
not urgent for you.

Re: Problems with start DIRSRV

Hi, After using command STRTCPSVR (*DIRSRV) , the system gererate for me a log :

Message . . . . : Directory Services server could not start.
Cause . . . . . : The Directory Services server 197419/QDIRSRV/QDIRSRV
could
not start due to configuration errors. The reason code is 4 and the
reason
code descriptions are as follows: 1: No backend found for the server.
2:
The
include file name is the same as the configuration file name. 3:
Configuration space is not found. 4: Error retrieving the backend
database
name. Recovery . . . : Use Operations Navigator to correct the
configuration information for the server and restart the server.
Technical
  description . . . . . . . . : The Change Directory Server Attributes
(QgldChgDirSrvA) API can also be used to change the configuration
information for the Directory Services server. The server can also be
started using the STRTCPSVR SERVER(*DIRSRV) command.

What does it mean ?? What is this backend base ??? How to solve the
problem
??

Thanks,

Subject: Problems with start Netserver

Hello everyone,
Since a few days a have a problem with my AS/400. I can't start
Neightborhood Server for map a disk in PC environment . When i use a
command STRTCPSVR (*NETSVR) the system give me back the message :

Komunikat . . . : AS/400 Support for Windows Network Neighborhood (AS/400 NetServer) was unable to start.

Cause . . . . . : The required AS/400 NetServer job QZLSSERVER was
unable to
start because of reason code 12. See the following reason codes and
their
 meanings:
1 - Unable to retrieve user credentials.
2 - Unable to retrieve credentials.
3 - Exchange user profile failed.
4 - Unable to obtain lock for service program QZLSSRV1 in library
QSYS.
5 - Start of the NetBIOS over TCP/IP failed with return code 0.
6 - Start of the internal server failed with return code 0. Note:
Return
code 16 indicates that there is another computer on the network already
using the same name as the AS/400 NetServer server name.
7 - Error occurred when sharing resources with the network.
8 - Unable to retrieve maximum incorrect sign-on attempts system
value.
9 - Unable to retrieve code page information.
10 - Unable to retrieve host IP address because of return code 0.
11 - AS/400 NetServer requires the services of TCP/IP, which is not
started.
OK...but where is desription about reaseon 12 ???

Thanks for every answer !!

Al and Larry,

Send me that stack trace. I'll see if I can make it work with your
browsers. I built that upload process for COMMON a couple years ago as
part of the CD Rom project. Browsers have changed a bit in that time. I
hope I've learned a few things, too.

Re: Having Problems Uploading COMMON Handouts

Al,

Yes I am. Though asking Nancy and Dawn will get you a "Larry breaks it
every year, what's new about that?" response. So it's very likely my
fault in the end anyway :-)

In my case Firefox just ignores any request to upload. Pick the file
and
give it a title but when you press Upload it simply closes the pop up.
Nice. IE gives me very nice pleasant screen full of
java.this.that.whatever.throwable.exception.error.please.play.again. I
no longer have Netscape having switched to firefox.

I have however discovered that my older than dirt, non-updated in
forever IE, running on windoze NT DOES let me upload so I did it from
there. So far as I know those worked OK.

Now if I only had all my presentation completed..... but that's another
story.
