*DIRSRV is LDAP. There is a database that contains what you want to be
served by LDAP. You need to set that up before it can serve it. If you
have to ask what LDAP is, then you do not need to start *DIRSRV at this
time. Not that you shouldn't learn, but starting the service is evidently
not urgent for you.

Re: Problems with start DIRSRV

Hi,
After using command STRTCPSVR (*DIRSRV) , the system gererate for me a log
:

 Message . . . . : Directory Services server could not start.
 Cause . . . . . : The Directory Services server 197419/QDIRSRV/QDIRSRV
could
not start due to configuration errors. The reason code is 4 and the
reason
code descriptions are as follows: 1: No backend found for the server.
2:
The
include file name is the same as the configuration file name. 3:
Configuration space is not found. 4: Error retrieving the backend
database
name. Recovery . . . : Use Operations Navigator to correct the
configuration information for the server and restart the server.
Technical
   description . . . . . . . . : The Change Directory Server Attributes
(QgldChgDirSrvA) API can also be used to change the configuration
information for the Directory Services server. The server can also be
started using the STRTCPSVR SERVER(*DIRSRV) command.

What does it mean ?? What is this backend base ??? How to solve the
problem
??

Thanks,

Robert Lazarz
