You can make the iSeries act as its own SMTP server using the SMTP and Mail Server Framework services. Our MS Exchange servers require authentication, but this only applies when sending email out from those servers, or when connecting with a client to receive email. Using a simple and basic configuration of the SMTP service on our iSeries machines, we are able to send email messages to the Exchange servers without any trouble.
