I don't think this is 400 or ODBC issue.  This is an application issue.
Application should be robust enough to detect that connection has been
terminated and reestablish it.  Or at least provide means for the user to do
it manually (i.e. via a menu option or something).

Auto re-connect ODBC connection to iSeries

How do I get the ODBC connection from our DOMINO wintel server to our
iSeries to re-connect automatically after I IPL or do an entire system 
save?
Currently, we end up restarting the DOMINO server.  We are using the 
iSeries
Access ODBC driver for the connection.
